"The Souper Bowl"

The Outreach Committee is again asking Rockport children, friends and members to bring cans of soup on "Souper"/Super Bowl Sunday, February 5. The soup will be donated to the Brookside Center on West 25th Street. Last year we collected 63 cans and our donation was greatly appreciated. (Isaiah 58:7 asks us to share our bread with the hungry.)

Rocky River Assistance Program

The Assistance Program has suggested "canned vegetables" for the February food donation. All non-perishable food donations are greatly appreciated. Please place donations in the hall container labeled "Rocky River Assistance Program".

The Berea Children's Home Valentine Party

The party will be on Saturday, February 11 from 11am-3pm. Nick and his volunteers serve his spaghetti along with garlic bread and salad for lunch. David and his volunteers organize basketball activities. Volunteers also provide face painting, game, and crafts. This is a fun-filled day for the children and Rockport Volunteers. Please join us by signing up on the sheet on the hall bulletin board and volunteering for your choice of activities. "Bakers" are also needed. The children love cookies and brownies! The contact person for this Outreach activity is MaryAnn.

Easter Baskets for Laura’s Home

Easter is approaching and Rockport’s youth and confirmands will be preparing Easter baskets for thirty of the women and twenty of the children at Laura’s Home again this year. Laura’s Home is a place where battered (or homeless) women and children can go and stay safe temporarily until they can find other living arrangements. The Easter baskets are filled with supplies they can use at the home and after they relocate as well. Laura’s Home does not allow the residents to receive candy in their baskets. We are collecting donations of body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, dental floss, small notepads, deodorant, nicer combs / hair picks / brushes, nail files or emery boards, shower caps, and loofas / bath sponges. We could also use lesser amounts of toothbrushes, children’s tear free shampoo, and small stuffed animals or toys marked as safe for children under age 3. We do not need Easter grass but donations of Easter baskets are welcome. Samples sizes collected when traveling are also welcome. A poster with specific needs (similar to what we have done in the past for families at Christmas or for food for VBS) is posted in the hallway near the pastor’s office. Special fun items you think children or teens (remember there are both girls and boys) or their mothers might enjoy are also nice to put in with the more practical items. Monetary donations are also appreciated so we can purchase any additional needed items and buy the baskets to put the items in. The baskets will be filled by the youth at an early March meeting so please bring any donations to the church by Sunday, February 26 and place in the bin marked Laura’s Home Easter Baskets in the church hallway
