Winter Wonderland

Christian Education at Rockport this winter should be pretty exciting. We’ve had Pizza Saturday, which is a Day Camp Day, and we’re gearing up to have another Winter Pajama Party & Movie, just like last year. We have a whole list of great activities all the way through the spring so be checking your calendars.

It’s also an exciting time because this is a Confirmation Year, and our 7th & 8th graders have been working hard since September in classes and extra activities and missions. They’re learning about what it is to be Methodist, and more importantly, Christian, as well as exactly what it is to take vows of Membership. They will be publicly reaffirming their baptismal vows before the congregation. Confirmation is a person’s first public affirmation of the faith of the church as being their own faith. In other words, the confirmand is taking responsibility for living as a member of the body of Christ and for fulfilling God’s purposes. We are also thankful to all of the Adults who are Mentoring the Confirmands this year - their time, commitment, and dedication is special to us. In May. I hope that everyone will come and Celebrate with our Confirmands. What an exciting time for our Rockport Family.

·         Pajama Party & Movie. February 3rd 6:30 -9 p.m. Kindergarten thru 6th Graders, Dinner, Movie, & Popcorn. Wear your Jammies. This Months Feature Presentation: RIO.

·         Confirmation Retreat. March 2nd & 3rd 7 p.m. – Noon Saturday Confirmands and Sponsors – Snacks, Lessons, Fun. Breakfast together in the Morning. Location: Rockport UMC

·         UMKids’ Club. (5th & 6th Graders) February 10th& 11th 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. Girls Lock-In. Games, Food, Fellowship, & Learning chili & subs.

·         February 4th 3 to 5 p.m. Making Chili and putting salads together for the Superbowl Sub Sale. Wesley Hall Kitchen

·         UMYF February 5th 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. SUPERBOWL SUBS. PLEASE meet in the Wesley Hall Kitchen at 8 am We have a LOT of subs to make and deliver.

·         First Meager Meal & Ash Wednesday worship February 22nd 6 to 8 p.m. Soup and Worship – would love to see UMYF & UMKids’ Club kids there.

·         UMW is hosting UMYF girls. February 23rd 7 to 9 p.m. Mission & Fellowship. Meet in the Parlor

·         March 11th 12:30 to 3 p.m. Making Laura’s Home Easter Baskets. Light Lunch, then making baskets

·         March 16th Lake Erie Monster’s Game... (Time TBA) Open to ANYONE in the Church. Youth & Adults. $17 per ticket – GREAT seats. And an open skate on the rink before the game. (must have your own skates) More info to follow. PLUS UMYF Lock-in following the game.
